Global Alliance Praises Indonesia and Perhumas' Contribution in Developing World PR

Indonesia has made many contributions to the public relations industry in the international world. One form of recognition for this contribution is the appointment of Indonesia as the host of the 2024 World Public Relations Forum held in Bali.

Perhumas chairman Boy Kelana Soebroto revealed that one of Perhumas' biggest achievements was when the Global Alliance gave the trust to host the 2024 World Public Relations Forum.

“This is not only a source of pride for Perhumas, but also a clear proof of world recognition of the contribution and commitment of all of us as public relations people in Indonesia,” Boy said when opening the third day of the 2024 World Public Relations Forum, Thursday (21/11/2024).

Boy added, since its establishment, Perhumas has not only grown as an organization, but also developed as a beacon of excellence for public relations professionals in Indonesia.

Boy said there are a number of things that have become Perhumas' achievements in carrying out its commitment to move forward. The first achievement is the launch of Perhumas Apps, a digital platform that improves communication and collaboration among public relations professionals throughout Indonesia.

“The second achievement is the publication of the Perhumas 50 Year Book, a monumental work documenting our organization's legacy and vision for the future and the creation of the Perhumas Indicators, an intellectual leap that serves as an important reference for measuring communication effectiveness and reputation in various sectors,” Boy explained.

The fourth achievement, Boy said, is the ongoing development of Indonesian Public Relations Day, an academic paper that underscores our dedication to gaining formal recognition for the public relations profession in Indonesia.

In addition, Perhumas also updated its Code of Ethics to address the development of artificial intelligence, ensuring that as technology evolves, our profession remains true to ethical principles.

Boy added that another achievement is the inclusion of the AI Code of Ethics which shows Perhumas' readiness to welcome the future while upholding its core values.

According to Boy, at its core public relations is about bridging differences, fostering trust, and creating a narrative that unites people.

“In a diverse country like Indonesia, this role becomes even more important. Diversity is not only the strength of our country, but also the strength of Perhumas. The richness of perspectives, cultures, and ideas within our community of PR professionals, drives innovation and pushes us to achieve meaningful impact,” Boy explained.

Global Alliance President & CEO Justin Green thanked all the speakers who attended the World Public Relations Forum 2024. In addition, Justin said, WPRF 2024 would not have been held without the support of the Indonesian government.

“I would also like to thank the ministries in Indonesia because without them, this day and this week would not have happened. Similarly, the government's support in terms of public relations and communications is very important,” Justin said.
