The World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) 2024, held in Bali, became a special momentum with the announcement of the Best Paper Award winners. This prestigious award from Perhumas is given to the best communication researchers who have succeeded in presenting innovative and relevant work to the challenges of the digital era and today's social dynamics.
Through a rigorous selection process, the winners demonstrated outstanding contributions in four main categories: Rigor, Originality, Relevance, and Impact. These studies not only address today's communication challenges but also open new insights for the future.
Chairman of Perhumas, Boy Kelana Soebroto, expressed his appreciation to the winners. “The works selected this year prove that communication research has the power to bring real solutions to global issues. They not only explore new ideas, but also create significant impact,” Boy said.
Winners of the Best Paper Award
Rigor Category:
"Research Institutions on Instagram:Message Strategy and Public Engagement “ by Martha Tri Lestari with the writing team of Anisa Dianti, Purnama Alamsyah, and Gustaf Wijaya was named the best.
Originality Category:
The research "Communication Strategy of Governance and Social Issues:A Case Study “ by Emilia Basar, with support from the team of Muhammad Lauda, Herry Ginanjar, Impror, Rully Yusuf, and Dealysa Puspa, won the award in this category.
Relevance Category:
The research titled "Analysis of the #Bukasemuapintu Public Relations Campaign ” by Lisa Esti Pujihartanti, with her team Silvia Angelica, won the award in this category.
Impact Category:
The research "Indonesia's Science Diplomacy in ASEAN Chairmanship ” by Mayrianti Annisa Anwar, with her team Diah Rahmawati Sugiono and Ni Made Yuliasih, won this category.
Best Presenter Winner
In addition to the Best Paper award, the event also recognized three best speakers in the Best Presenter category:
1. Dalien René Benecke (South Africa), with the topic “Mapping a Dynamic Coil Framework for Purposeful PR Education”.
2. Mohd Nur Najmi Nuji (Malaysia), with the research "The Exploration of Public Diplomacy Through Strategic Engagement Among Universities:A Case Study of ASEAN-Malaysia Chairmanship 2025".
3. Jenny Zhengde Hou (Australia), with the presentation "From Scrolling to Sustainability:Addressing Food Waste on TikTok Through Social Marketing".
The judges for this category, Dr. Ulani Yunus, MM, Dr. N. Nurlaila Arif, MBA, and Dr. Irwa Zarkasi, judged based on the quality of the presentation as well as interaction with the audience.
WPRF 2024 Call for Papers Coordinator, Prof. Dr. Dorien Kartikawangi, said that the research presented covered current topics, such as PR Education, Sports Management, Nation Branding, Soft Power, and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance). “The audience interaction was very active, providing valuable input to improve the quality of the research,” said Dorien.
Various themes, ranging from digital content, health communication, crisis communication, image enhancement, to innovation in communication, were well presented and provided inspiration for future communication development.
The Best Paper Award and Best Presenter at WPRF 2024 are expected to be a trigger for other researchers to continue creating relevant and innovative work. In addition, this event strengthens Indonesia's position in the international communication arena.
